about me
Hi, I'm Ashley Rose
I’m Ashley, 34, born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, and currently beginning a new chapter in Western Mass. I’ve been in recovery since February 21, 2013, a journey that has shaped how I move through the world, my work, and myself. Recovery is not a single milestone but a daily practice, one that continues to teach me patience, self-trust, and growth.
I returned to painting during a period of intense caregiving, when I was the primary caretaker for my grandparents. Confined mostly to their home, I found myself back in the basement with brushes and paint, creating quietly, intuitively, and without expectation. Art became a way to process what I couldn’t yet name and to stay present through something deeply bittersweet.
For a long time, my work carried the weight of that chapter. Now, it still carries my story just more lightly. My art continues to evolve as I do, shifting from survival toward clarity, curiosity, and connection. What remains constant is the intention: to make work that is honest, grounding, and human.
I hope to build something sustainable here, and to share pieces of my story in ways that help others feel seen, understood, or less alone. Some stories surface through paintings; others find their way into words, which I share more fully on my Substack.
Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or are just finding your way in, thank you for being here with me, during the becoming.
Love always, Ashley Rose
